Overnight closures will be taking place on the A46 between Billesley Crossroads and Bishopton Roundabout over 15 nights between 8 and 26 June.
Our appointed highways contractor, Montel Civil Engineering, is now approaching the final phase of construction for the access roundabout which connects the A46, Drayton Manor Drive and the new internal access road.
To allow the roundabout to be completed, Montel has scheduled a programme of overnight road closures which will take place between 8.00pm to 6.00am over fifteen nights between Monday 8 to Friday 26 June 2026. Please note that these dates and timings remain subject to change.
For residents and businesses located along the section of road that will be closed, including Drayton Manor Drive and Bannatyne Health Club, the schedule of arrangements for access and egress during the overnight closures can be viewed on Montel’s website. Please note that Montel’s schedule is indicative and may be subject to change as the works progress.
The official diversion route will follow the same route used during the previous programme of overnight closures in February 2026 and will redirect through traffic via the A435 and A4189 during the main A46 closure. Montel will install extensive signage to indicate the official diversion route. A copy of the diversion route can also be viewed on Montel’s website via the link above.
The main works will take place during the first fortnight of overnight closures and the final four nights of closures during week commencing on 23, 24, 25 and 26 June have been scheduled to allow contingency for National Highways to complete their statutory safety audit to sign off the scheme.
For residents and local traffic entering or exiting the section of road closed overnight, limited access will be permitted. To view a map of the full diversion route and for more details, please visit Montel’s dedicated scheme website.
We would like to thank the community in advance for their understanding during the upcoming closures and we have sought to minimise disruption where possible by closing the A46 at quieter periods overnight.
